Educational & Youth Groups
One of our main goals at Fighter’s Heaven is to educate especially younger generations on the legacy and ideals of Muhammad Ali. We’ve been thrilled to host many various school and youth groups, as well as adult organizations this past year. We encourage groups to contact us about tours.
Roots of Fight Shoot
Fighter’s Heaven was delighted to welcome back “Roots of Fight” for a photo shoot promoting the new additions to their Muhammad Ali/Deer
Lake line of apparel. This is the second time they have used the Camp to shoot “on location” at this historic site. The Vancouver, Canada based company is a popular media, lifestyle and apparel brand celebrating and paying homage to various icons in the world of sports and other icons of popular culture.
Freddie Mitchell – Special Olympics
Fighter’s Heaven hosted former Philadelphia Eagle’s wide receiver Freddie Mitchell for a “meet and greet” autograph session following a Special Olympic’s Flag Football game that took place at the Penn State Schuylkill .Campus
Local High School Football Media Day
High school football “media day” for all sixteen Schuylkill County teams was held at Fighter’s Heaven in August prior to the beginning of their season. “I think this is a place that high school kids should come see and understand the history. The legacy that this place embodies is something that all kids in our area should know”, stated Mike Farr, President of Schuylkill County Football Coaches Association. It was a great way to start their football season and provided an opportunity to educate the players and others about the remarkable and inspirational life of Muhammad Ali.
Who’s in Your Corner
Fighter’s Heaven was proud to partner with several Reading, PA organizations for a special two day event with the goal to inspire youth in our community. Called “Whose in Your Corner”, we partnered with The Real Deal 610, Reading Film Office, Berks Community Action Program, Reading School District and the Olivet Boys and Girls Club. There was also sponsorship help from BCAP, Sen. Judy Schwank and State Rep. Manny Guzman. On Saturday, invited youth boarded buses for a field trip to Fighter’s Heaven, where they toured Ali’s legendary training camp and learned about his incredible legacy. The purpose of the program was to inspire, motivate, and empower the city’s youth. There is a national epidemic of youth violence and mental illness. Unfortunately, it hits the hardest in less affluent communities like Reading, PA. Fighter’s heaven was excited to be involved in such a worthwhile event.
